On the Second Saturday of each month, Friends volunteer at the Park to:

  • Greet park visitors
    • Answer questions about the Park
    • Provide information about the Friends programs and volunteer opportunities
    • Make sure hikers have water
    • Check that dogs are on leashes
  • Pick up trash
    • Walk the trails and pick up trash
    • Trash bags, gloves, and pick-up tools are provided
    • Assist park visitors with information along the way

  • Time & place
    • 7:30-9:30 AM at the Main Gate.
  • Preregistration
    • To ensure that everyone can work safely and have a meaningful experience, the number of volunteers is limited, so preregistration is required. Be sure to register early so that you are not closed out! You can register at Second Saturday Sign-up:
  • Large groups
    • The Second Saturday program cannot accommodate large groups. If you have a group of more than 5 people interested in volunteering, please contact us about arranging an appropriate event at info@friendsofthewildernesspark.org.
  • Training
    • New volunteers will meet at the main gate/Kiosk for a brief information and safety training session at 7:20 AM.
  • Parking
    • A very limited number of temporary parking permits are available and must be requested in advance – no later than noon Thursday before the event. Claremont residents can park for free in the south parking lot.

      Please note that Saturday morning is a popular time at the Park, and parking spaces are limited. We encourage everyone who can to walk, bike, or carpool and plan to arrive early.

Volunteers will receive a FREE T-SHIRT on the second day they volunteer!
