CHWP Annual & Resident Parking Permits Now Available

Starting Monday, December 3, 2018, Claremont Hills Wilderness Park parking permits will be available at the Alexander Hughes Community Center (1700 Danbury Rd) during regular business hours (M-Th 9am-9pm, F 9am-6pm, Sa 9am- 2pm).

Annual permits are sold for $140 and may be used at the north or south parking lots. Annual permits are valid January 1, 2019 through December 31, 2019.

Residents may obtain 2 FREE resident permits per household.  Residents must provide proof of residency when applying for a permit. Proof of residency include a utility bill, driver’s license, or lease agreement. Claremont college students qualify for a resident permit and must provide their student ID to qualify. Resident permits are only valid in the south parking lot and are valid January 1, 2019, through December 31, 2020.

Remember to Volunteer in December!

Please join our team Saturday December 8th 2018 at the Claremont Wilderness Park!

Our Second Saturday of month volunteers will greet visitors to the park, provide maps/directions and reinforce desirable park behavior  Hike the Loop! Volunteers are welcome to hike the loop, pick up trash and assist park visitors with information along the way.

  • Two shifts (6:30-8:30 AM and 8:30-10:30 AM) at the Main Gate.
  • We meet for a brief information and safety training session at the Euro Café (Mills and Baseline) at 6:15 or 8:15 and then carpool to the entrance.  Volunteers will receive free T-shirts on the second day they volunteer!

Let us know which shift you are available to volunteer on December 8th and if you are interested in future opportunities.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Due to extreme fire weather conditions, the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park (CHWP) will remain closed through Wednesday, November 14, 2018. The CHWP is scheduled to reopen on Thursday, November 15, 2018.

The National Weather Service may further extend the warning if critical weather conditions continue. Please plan accordingly. Updates will be posted on the City Website at www.ci.claremont.ca.us or the National Weather Service at National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service has extended the red flag warning to Tuesday, November 13. Due to this warning, the CHWP will remain closed. The CHWP will reopen Wednesday, November 14, 2018.

Consequently, the 2nd Saturday volunteer event for November 10 is cancelled!

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Red Flag Warning for Los Angeles County. The Claremont Hills Wilderness Park (CHWP) will be closed on Thursday, November 8, and Friday, November 9, 2018. The CHWP will reopen on Saturday, November 10, 2018.
